The Vtech Kidistar DJ Mixer sample pack is a collection of over 300 audio recordings from the device of the same name. The original device allows the user to manipulate musical samples on a grid of 15 pads. with additional methods for playing one-shot samples, and even wired or wireless audio input sources. Nearly every single sound on this device has been painstakingly recorded and edited for ease-of-use and compatibility with traditional digital audio workstations. Each of the 15 "kits" included in this pack contain loops and one-shots for Techno, Elec. Pop, Chill, and Hip Hop (these are Vtech's names for these genres, not mine lol.) For FL Studio users, Performance Mode projects were built and included for each of the kits to allow users to play with the audio similarly to how it would be done on the real toy.

Technical notes:

Capture was done via the onboard headphone jack. Aside from applying a minor gain, no processing was done to the audio. Direct capture from the chip was possible, however in this instance I felt that the noise added by the unbalanced 3.5mm connection was integral to the character and sound of the toy, and that doing otherwise would go against the spirit of this project. AA batteries were used as opposed to the DC input to prevent DC noise ingress.  Tempo information is based on a rounded best estimate. Believe it or not, sometimes children's toys are not very accurate at playing sounds at a steady speed or tempo. Let's just say that it's part of the charm. Some adjustment may be needed if full loops are in use. The included vocal loops have almost no relationship to the tempo of the kit. This is not an error on my part. The vocal loops truly are that off-beat. Note that the timing of each file may not quite match how it would sound in reality. There are several sounds that were very challenging to record on-beat.

Also included is a mostly complete set of sounds from the Academy mode. These were difficult to record, as there is a backing instrumental that plays constantly during this mode that prevented clean capture of any individual sound. I got mixed results using Demucs to isolate each element, with the drums specifically coming out poorly. It should be noted that all the drum samples appear to be TR-808 sounds that are easily found elsewhere. You probably already have them, so it's okay. As for the vocals and other sounds, I did my best to isolate them using various tools, but artifacts can still be heard.

As a bonus - The Amen and Think break drum loops, recorded via the onboard microphone. Very lofi and crappy. I love it.
